
Dedrick Chan
Dedrick is the Principal Investigator of CIEL. As a clinician-scientist, he holds appointments both with the National University Hospital and the National University of Singapore. With NUH, he is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, with an interest in the management and treatment of colorectal cancer. At NUS, he has been appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor.
Dedrick underwent doctoral training at the University of Oxford with a fully-funded scholarship by the National Medical Research Council. His current research is funded by the NMRC as well as by institutional funding.

Dr Charlie Marvalim
Charlie is a post-doctoral fellow specializing in translational cancer research. Prior to joining his current lab, he completed his PhD at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, where he focused on elucidating the mechanisms of action of breast cancer therapies and identifying biomarkers of treatment sensitivity in patient samples. Over the past eight years, Charlie has gained extensive research experience across several institutions, including Nanyang Technological University during his undergraduate studies, and the National Cancer Centre Singapore as part of his diploma.

Yew Wei Ni
Wei Ni is the lab’s Research Assistant. She graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences from Nanyang Technological University in 2024.

Bi Yuying
Yuying is the lab’s Research Assistant. She graduated with a degree in Data Science and Analytics from National University of Singapore in 2025.

Tan Ko Hui
Ko Hui is a PhD student with the lab. Her research focuses on driver mutations in colorectal oncogenesis. Prior to her PhD journey, she gained experience in biomedical imaging and gene delivery during her time in A*STAR. She graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry.
